Disadvantages of Tooth Whitening

Allergic reaction
One of the disadvantages of tooth whitening products is the fact that they could cause you to have an allergic reaction. Teeth whitening products contain certain chemicals, and for some individuals these chemicals will have a bad reaction when they come in contact with an individual's teeth and gums. Before applying teeth whitening products to your entire mouth, you should test them on a small section of your teeth and gums. If you develop any itching, redness or burning you should wash your mouth out, discontinue use of the product and consult with your dentist at the next appointment. He or she may be able to provide you with prescription whitening products that will work without causing any problems.
